How does a person in PR start his or her day? What does a typical day look like? Let’s find out from Megha Hamal, Founder & CEO of Megha Hamal PR & Branding.
1. How does your day start?
I start my day with a cup of freshly brewed coffee. As I enjoy my coffee, I scan the online news and watch the local morning broadcast. I usually gravitate toward the NY Times and Chicago Tribune. I also peruse Twitter for quick headlines. Time permitting, I head to the gym and get a quick 30-minute workout.
2. How many times a day do you communicate with your clients?
I host bi-weekly meetings with my clients on Zoom. I usually stick to a 30-minute meeting and go over things that they need from me. While meetings work well, I also try to have open communication with my clients throughout the day. This allows me to address their needs in real-time.
3. Do you think PR is changing?
Yes, PR is changing and you have to keep pace with the changing times. Today, PR is more than landing media coverage and calling it a victory. PR is also about thought leadership and influencer marketing. In today’s world, one has to think beyond the traditional method of gaining brand credibility. Getting third-party validation and positive publicity is also about working with the right thought leaders and influencers who match your brand ethos and message.
4. What drink do you need to get through the day and how many?
Coffee and coconut water. I lose track of how many.
5. What inspires you throughout the day?
The vibrant, colorful city of Chicago inspires me. The people, the scenery, the waterfront and the architecture, for example.
6. What’s your favorite app that keeps you organized?
The Notes app on my iPhone is really useful and keeps me organized.
7. How do you unwind?
I unwind by lighting a candle, playing some light music, and occasionally sipping an evening latte after I get home.
